CNBC becomes Business Media Partner with Marussia Virgin Racing
Marussia Virgin Racing and CNBC, the leading global broadcaster of live business and financial news and information, have joined forces in an exclusive global partnership that sees CNBC becoming the team’s official ‘Business Media Partner’ for the 2011 Formula One season, which gets underway on 27 March in Melbourne, Australia.
Marussia Motors History
Founded in 2007 by former racing driver Nikolay Fomenko, renowned brand strategist Efim Ostrovsky and award-winning technology entrepreneur Andrey Cheglakov, the creation of Russia’s first high-performance car company is a remarkable story of vision, focus, innovation and ambition.
Appropriately for a dynamic new car company our evolution has been breathtakingly swift. Unveiling our first design – the dramatic mid-engined B1 – in Moscow during 2008, we then followed this with the world launch of the overtly aggressive Marussia B2 at the prestigious Frankfurt International Motor Show in the autumn of 2009. The Russian supercar had arrived.
Just a few months later we took the unprecedented step of becoming first Russian car brand to enter the 2010 FIA Formula One World Championship, in partnership with Virgin Racing F1. At the end of 2010 we acquired a majority stake in the team – now called Marussia Virgin F1 – and will be contesting the 2011 FIA Formula 1 World Championship.
